MLA and APA Citations

Website Tools to Help with Citations!!

The websites listed below will assist you with creating citations correctly in either MLA or APA format.

Citation Tools --- BE AWARE that citation tools are guides and are not always correct plus it is your responsibility as a student to know what a correct citation looks like. Always proofread and compare your citations to the guides above or the Mira Costa Library Citation pamphlets found below.

If you have any questions about citations, remember that the Wildcat Librarian can help. Visit the library front desk for additional guidance.

*** If you are on a student computer, the videos below will not play.  Instead, on the desktop computer find the folder named Video.Library.  Once you find the video, push play and you are then able to watch how to format your papers correctly.

**** There are 9 different videos in this You Tub video.  Click on the Playlist feature to see all nine videos. It is in the upper left hand side.

Mira Costa MLA and APA Style Examples Pamphlets

Check out the pamphlets that the librarians at Mira Costa College have created to help students better understand how to format reference pages correctly in either MLA or APA style.   Make sure that you pick the correct format pamphlet examples.  There is a difference between the two styles.

MLA Manual on How to Correctly Format your Papers with Microsoft Word

Click on the guide below and you will find directions for how to set the margins, font, and size (using Microsoft Word) before beginning papers and presentations; what types of titles and headings are expected in papers and where to put them; what information you need to collect from a source while looking at a print source or searching the internet; how to incorporate those sources—either directly or through paraphrase—into your written work; how to create a Works Cited page (giving credit to the sources you visited and borrowed information from); and examples of what correctly formatted work should look like.
