A minimum of two years of lab science (one life science and one physical science) are required for graduation from high school. Students planning on admission to the UC system or those interested in pursuing science in college are strongly recommended to go beyond the minimum requirements. We recommend taking at a minimum, Biology, Chemistry and Physics to be competitive in the college application process. The science department is pleased to offer four Advanced Placement courses (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science) as well as Anatomy/Physiology and Marine Biology for students who have completed the minimum requirements.
