What is TRIO Talent Search?
TRIO Talent Search is a federally funded program by the US Department of Education that identifies and assists students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education.

What does TRIO Talent Search provide?
TRIO Talent Search provides free academic, career, and financial advising to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to and complete their postsecondary education at any college of their choosing.

What services are available through Talent Search?
TRIO Talent Search offers a variety of free services and programs that engages students in the academic, high school completion and post-secondary education processes. Services include:

• Academic, financial, and career advising
• Information on postsecondary education
• Exposure to college campuses
• Information on Financial Aid
• Assistance in completing college admissions and financial aid applications
• College entrance exam preparation
• SAT & ACT fee waivers
• Mentoring
• Tutorial services

Who does TRIO Talent Search serve?
TRIO Talent Search serves students in grades 9th-12th at Oceanside High School (OHS) and El Camino High School (ECHS).
How does an individual qualify for TRIO Talent Search?
Students must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States and should be the first in their family to attend college and/or meet the programs federal low-income levels.

How does an individual apply to TRIO Talent Search?
Students and parents must complete a paper application and release forms. Any needed documentation must be included (i.e. social security number, legal guardianship, etc.).

Where does an individual submit their Talent Search Application?
Submit completed applications to TRIO Talent Search Staff at OHS (W137) and ECHS (College & Career Center) or to the school Counseling office.
